Public Service Opportunities
The following community service projects are currently being offered through the Law School:
The Barkery / Metro Animal Shelter
If you are interested in volunteering with The Barkery, a group that helps promote adoption of pets from the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter (you get to play with dogs!), please contact Cayman Caven at email@example.com for more information.
Habitat for Humanity
The Public Interest Student Board organizes regular work days on Habitat for Humanity building projects, generally on Fridays or Saturdays. For more information, contact Rob NeSmith at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Raise the Bar Mentoring Program
This student-run organization pairs law students with middle school students at Eastwood Middle School in Tuscaloosa for one-on-one mentoring. Volunteers also staff a one-hour enrichment session for at-risk students at the school every day, Monday through Friday. For more information, contact Ellie Friedman at email@example.com.
Law student volunteers will be cooking and serving food at the Tuscaloosa Community Soup Bowl one weekend in the fall semester and one weekend in the spring semester. Volunteer spaces are limited; if you are interested in signing up, please contact Chelsea Caveny at firstname.lastname@example.org.
