Since 1897, the University of Illinois College of Law has offered students a rigorous, broad-ranging, and innovative legal education on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, one of the world's great research universities.
The faculty at Illinois is one of the most respected and highly cited in the nation, boasting national leaders in the fields of bankruptcy law, corporate law, criminal law, elder law, health law, labor law, property law, and a variety of other fields. They also bring a range of perspectives to their teaching and research: in addition to their juris doctors, about half of the faculty hold advanced graduate degrees in fields ranging from computer engineering to medicine. Four members of the College's faculty have won the University of Illinois' prestigious Campus Award for Excellence in Graduate and Professional Teaching.
When asked to characterize the Illinois Law experience, students often mention two attributes: collaboration and camaraderie. Illinois students are talented and ambitious, but they also value teamwork. At Illinois, what students accomplish together is as important and as meaningful as what they accomplish themselves. This spirit serves our graduates well in their future professional positions, where our graduates have a reputation for being effective team players.
Illinois graduates are dynamic leaders in the legal community who hold key positions at many of the nation's Top 100 law firms and major corporations. They also hold important posts in the public sector, including judgeships and elected positions in local, state, and federal government.
