Math Workshop
Free professional tutoring is available to all Kingsborough students who are in a math class. We are open almost 60 hours per week.However, since our office hours change each semester, it is best to check with us.
The Math Workshop is organized into three components:
A) Workshop: Any student who is enrolled in any math class can get help in the workshop. No appointment is needed. Tutoring is done on a walk-in basis. However, students must sign the attendance sheet. The tutoring can be done individually or in a small group.
B) Independent students are the students, who receive a letter from the Testing Office inviting them to take the COMPASS Exam and who voluntarily come to the Math Workshop.We give them worksheets in Arithmetic and Elementary Algebra specifically gearedfor the COMPASS Exam, Sample Exams from the CUNY website, and sample exams from other websites. If the student needs help, a tutor is assigned to work with the student.
C)The Computer Lab (MCL): Computers are available for Math, Computer Science classes, and individual math and computer science students. The students can utilize both the Workshop and the MCL.
In the Math Workshop, we emphasize individuality, may it be in the Workshop, Independent Students or MCL. Our goal is to help students acquire the necessary foundation to succeed.
