Degree Audit/Graduation General Information

Graduation is the official completion of your program, with all program and admission requirements met and final grades on your record. If you are nearing the end of your program, you will need to apply for graduation. You must graduate from your program in order to be eligible for certification. Students are advised to apply for graduation within the first two weeks of the semester the students intend to graduate. The official application form for graduation is called Degree Audit Application Form (DAAF).

Completing the Degree Audit Application Forms (DAAFs)

Graduate Students: Print the Graduate DAAFs and turn it in to Room 1000W. Do not attach memos, unofficial transcripts or score reports. They need to be processed separately.

  • Adolescent Education students must first get their subject department advisor’s signature and stamp .
  • Students in all other programs can submit their completed DAAFs to Room W1000 directly.

Undergraduate Education Students: Print the GER form from the Registrar’s web site and the School of Education DAAF attachment· for your program. Once you get the appropriate signature/stamp on the GER DAAF, turn that in with the School of Education DAAF attachment to the School of Education (3 pages total).

Maintenance of Matriculation·- All graduate students must be registered in their final semester. Students not registered for any courses must register for maintenance of matriculation (MAM) through OASIS. ·There are no waivers for this requirement. Students who do not apply for graduation on time or do not resolve their graduation issues by graduation date will not be eligible for graduation and will have to maintain matriculation and apply for graduation for a later term.

Applying for graduation online through your CUNYfirst account. For now this link is not functional. You do not apply for graduation online through your CUNYfirst account. You complete the two-page form from printed from our web site and turn it in to Room 1000W with all appropriate signatures.

Commencement is different from graduation. Commencement is the ceremony scheduled twice a year (fall and spring*) to confer degrees. A commencement fair is held twice a year for graduating students. Visit the Commencement page for more information. We have more commencment information on our Degree Audit FAQs.

*If you're taking your final courses in the summer semester, you would apply for summer graduation. You can participate in spring commencement if you take 6 or fewer credits. If you take more than 6 credits, you must participate in the fall commencement.
