Degree Audit/Graduation General Information
Graduation is the official completion of your program, with all program and admission requirements met and final grades on your record. If you are nearing the end of your program, you will need to apply for graduation. You must graduate from your program in order to be eligible for certification.
As we adopt this new online degree audit system, please look for information on graduation application opening and closing dates in the announcements section of our website.
All graduate students must be registered in their final semester. Students not registered for any courses must register for maintenance of matriculation (MAM) through the Registrar's office. There are no waivers for this requirement. Students who do not apply for graduation on time or do not resolve their graduation issues by graduation date will not be eligible for graduation and will have to maintain matriculation and apply for graduation for a later term.
The Hunter College Commencement is the ceremony scheduled twice a year (fall and spring*) to celebrate graduation. Visit the Degree Audit FAQs. The School of Education holds a separate commencement ceremony once a year at the end of spring for fall graduates and eligible spring and summer graduation applicants.page for more information. We have more commencement information on our
*If you're taking your final courses in the summer semester, you would apply for summer graduation. You can participate in spring commencement if you take 6 or fewer credits. If you take more than 6 credits, you must participate in the fall commencement.
