Recruitment & StaffingVolunteers at the Day of Caring
The University of Virginia is committed to hiring qualified and talented people as outstanding employees, leaders and managers. Each school and/or department has a dedicated HR Consultant who provides guidance and support throughout the hiring process. We can assist in developing effective job postings using the Jobs at UVa online employment system; developing a diverse candidate pool through the use of strategic advertising; screening applications; testing (where appropriate); interviewing; reference checking; setting the salary; and ultimately, offering the job.
Hiring managers should familiarize themselves with the Recruitment and Hiring of University Staff and Wage Employees policy and the Hiring Toolkit before initiating a search.
The University has a strong commitment to the principles of diversity, inclusion, and to maintaining a work and learning environment that is free of all forms of discrimination. The University of Virginia is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. Women, minorities, veterans, and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
“As of February 16, 2009, University Human Resources instituted an internal posting policy. All staff postings (excluding teaching and research academic faculty librarians) will be posted and recruited internally. We will allow external posting in two instances: a) positions where we would not find qualified internal candidates - nurses may be an example - or b) positions that have been posted internally for a reasonable period of time and a qualified candidate has not been identified.” For more information on that policy, read this letter from Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Susan Carkeek.
