Get packed, it’s time to move in to your residence hall! Make sure that you have a valid housing contract for the term that you’re moving into, and prepare to enjoy the true college experience at the University of Florida!

Mailing Packages

Mail all packages for arrival AFTER you move in. Please pick up packages promptly with a picture ID due to limited storage space at the area desks.

Move-In Basics

Here is everything that you need to know about move-in day!

Summer A: May 9, 2013 at Noon *No appointments required

Summer B: June 26, 2013 at Noon *No appointments required

Fall: *Check-In Appointment information sent in June/July with Move In dates

Innovation Academy: *Check-In Appointment information sent in October/November with Move In dates

*Check-In (or Move-In) appointments are limited by day and time. This process is in place to help traffic, emergency access, and overcrowding areas so you have a positive move-in experience.

You will need:

  • Gator1 or Driver’s License
  • $10 cash for an Activity Card.  For access to the Area Government events all year (like fun Welcome Week events!) and equipment in your area. This is a great chance to get involved, meet other residents, and have fun before classes start.
  • Bring help & a cart. A few carts may be available from area desks.
  • Drink Water & Use Sunscreen

Student must be present to check-in

Family members may not check-in for their student

Early check-in is not permitted

Staff are working hard to prepare halls and rooms for your arrival, so please arrive during your scheduled appointment time or an open time. Sorry, no exceptions.

No family pets

(dogs, cats, snakes, etc.)

Elevators

  • Available in all buildings, except Murphree, Fletcher, Sledd, Thomas, Buckman, & Keys
  • Limited use to 1 trip and 1 person with belongings may apply due to high demand.
  • Traditional Halls may have a 1 trip restriction

Parking

Unload your vehicle then move it to a permanent parking lot.

Unloading Parking (5-10 Min)

  • Someone must stay with your vehicle at all times or you may be ticketed or towed
  • Short Term Unloading locations: Red Lot, Housing service drive, or on the side of a roadway. Do not block traffic.
  • Restricted Areas (May be ticketed or towed): Brown lots, reserved spaces, disabled parking spaces, car pool spaces, no parking zones, fire lanes, sidewalks, bike lanes, or on the grass. No unauthorized parking from 7:30am -4:30pm M-F in Orange, Blue, or Gated Lots.

Parking After Unloading

  • Immediately move your vehicle after unloading
  • Student Parking Lots: Red 1, All Red, Green, or “Any Decal” lot. Decal restrictions are lifted for a very short time in these lots. Visitors with disabled parking placards may use disabled parking spaces. Students with disabled parking placards may use disabled parking spaces during check-in and then must purchase UF disabled student decals.

Transfers/Swaps

Transfers or Mutual Swaps cannot occur until after add/drop is over.

Recommended Packing List

All rooms are fully furnished with an extra-long bed and mattress, a dresser, a desk, a chair, a closet/wardrobe per resident. There is also a trash can and closet/blinds per every room. Remember that all furniture must remain in student rooms.
