Welcome from the Director
On behalf of the students and staff of the University of Florida Honors Program, I welcome you to our site. Here you will find a wealth of information about our program and the opportunities we have for engaged and motivated students. I invite you to click around and find the answers you're seeking.
My basic philosophy of honors education is this: Honors is a challenge, not a reward. Students invited to participate in the program have demonstrated that they have a great deal of academic potential. Many were leaders in their schools and communities. Others are gifted musicians or artists. They have a lot to offer UF and the world, and we are thrilled that they have chosen to be Gators.
Joining the Honors Program, however, indicates a willingness to fully engage in the academic life of the university. Our students strive to take full advantage of all the opportunities available at this world-class research university. They are not content merely to go to class, write their papers, and ace their exams; they push themselves to learn and experience all they can. To do less is to leave unrealized the vast potential that lies within.
The Honors Program staff assists students in the pursuit of their goals. We help make this large university smaller and more personal by offering excellent advising, providing interesting academic experiences, inviting distinguished guests to campus, and matching students up with any number of other opportunities.
Again, welcome to our site. If you have any questions that remain unanswered, or if you have a comment for us, please let us know. We'd love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kevin Knudson
