PARKING INFORMATIONGCSU has more than 3,600 parking spaces located throughout Central and West Campus for student, faculty, staff, and visitor use. Additionally there are handicap spaces, service vehicle spaces, shuttle stops and loading zones also identified around the university. To ensure GCSU spaces are available as needed, permits are required to park on GCSU property. Specific permits are required to park in designated lots and are easily identified by color and permit type.
- Official GCSU signs, maps and markings designate authorized parking areas and spaces. Please refer to the parking map for specific locations. All lots are close to campus shuttle bus stops.
Visitor Parking
Limited visitor parking is available in selected lots throughout campus. Please refer to the parking map for specific locations. Visitors wishing to park for more than 20 minutes must obtain a visitor's permit from the Parking and Transportation Office located on West Campus before parking on any Central Campus lot.
Applying for a Permit
- To apply for a permit, please access the Online Parking Office through myCats. (This is a secure site accessible by students, faculty and staff with a password.) After submitting your application online, drop by the Parking and Transportation Office located on West Campus to pay for the permit (if you did not pay online), and to pick up your valid hangtag permit.
Enforcement
Normal hours of enforcement are Mon - Fri, 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. unless posted otherwise. The Parking and Transportation Office conducts continuous roving patrols aggressively enforcing parking rules and policies. Additionally, Campus Public Safety and local law enforcement issue citations for parking infractions on public city streets.
- The easiest way to avoid penalties is to properly display your parking permit from the rearview mirror and park only in those areas where your permit is valid. Citations will be issued and fines imposed for improper parking.
Citation Appeals If you feel you've received a citation in error or that is not justified, you may appeal it. A Parking Appeals Committee (composed of faculty, staff, and student members from across campus) meets monthly to review appealed citations.
TRANSPORTATION SERVICES
Transportation Services provides excellent customer service utilizing five buses on a full time basis to transport students to specific locations throughout Central and West Campus. Buses run a continuous loop with departures every 10 minutes during daytime school hours. The Parking and Transportation Fee allows students unlimited access to the shuttle system. Please refer to the
Campus Shuttle Map (jpg) for specific routes.
If you have a special needs transportation situation or need to reserve a bus for a special program or trip please contact the Parking and Transportation Office at 478-445-RIDE (7433).
