Transient Students

Students who wish to go transient to another institution to take courses that count toward their degree at Georgia College & State University must complete the Transient Request Form available from the Office of the Registrar, and must obtain the approval of their department chairperson and their faculty adviser prior to enrolling at the other institution. (Dean's approval is required if the student is not in good standing.) This form must specify the course(s) to be taken at the other institution and the equivalent course offered at GCSU (please check with T.A.I.L. in PAWS, Admissions Information and Application Status to be sure the course will transfer). The student must request the registrar to send a transcript to the Admissions Office at GCSU in order to receive credit for the work. Ordinarily students are permitted to be transient students for only one term.

Transient student course work to be used for degree credit is limited by the residency requirement of completing at least 40 hours at Georgia College & State University. At least 21 of the last 30 credit hours toward a degree must be completed at the 3000-4000 levels in residence at GCSU. In addition, the maximum number of course credit hours that may be transferred to GCSU to count toward a degree must not exceed 80 semester hours.

Georgia College & State University will accept only the credit hours from transient courses that are passed, and not the quality points. Grades earned in these courses will have NO effect on the student's regents cumulative, or institutional grade-point average at GCSU.
