M.Ed. in Kinesiology: Human Performance

Available at the Milledgeville Campus and Macon Center.

Degree Requirements

The master of education in human performance meets the needs and interests of physical education teachers, sport coaches, athletic trainers, and health and fitness professionals interested in  the design and delivery of performance enhancement programs  to enhance both individual and team performance. Students will develop knowledge of social and psychological variables that impact physical performance and apply theoretical foundations to professional practice.

The Human Performance specialization is designed to offer a unique program of study within the state of Georgia that meets the needs and interests of physical education teachers, sport coaches, athletic trainers, and health and fitness professionals. The curriculum is developed in such a way as to be competitive with other "summer focused" and "distance learning" graduate programs in that it can be completed as a full-time student throughout the regular academic year or as a part-time student with minimal coursework during the regular academic year and full course loads during the summer. Additionally, many of the regular academic year classes will be conducted online to increase the geographic area from which part-time students may be drawn.

Human Performance students will be prepared to:

1. Gather, collate, analyze and summarize human performance data;

2. Synthesize safety, developmental and scientific principles related
to the design and delivery of performance enhancement programs;

3. Observe, analyze and identify ways to enhance both individual
and team performance;

4. Describe social & psychological variables which impact physical
performance;

5. Apply current issues and trends to the assessment of human
performance factors;

6. Conduct & synthesize research in human performance for a
range of professional settings.
