Dedicated to the proposition that all minds should be free.MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University tennis teams both earned bids to their respective NCAA Division II Regional Tennis Tournaments, association officials announced Wednesday (April 30) night.
The No. 17 Bobcat men (16-6) earned a No. 4-seed at the regional, and will travel to Savannah, Ga. to compete on Armstrong Atlantic State University’s AASU Tennis Complex. The Bobcats will take on No. 21 Columbus State University (13-11) at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 8. The Bobcats beat the Cougars 6-3 during the regular season.

For the No. 15 Georgia College women (15-8), No. 12 Columbus State (19-7) also awaits the Bobcats. The two teams will square off in Florence, S.C. at host Francis Marion University’s Kassab Courts. The Bobcats will be looking to avenge a pair of losses to the Lady Cougars this season, with an NCAA Tournament match Thursday, May 8 at noon.
This marks the 14th straight season the GCSU women’s team has made the NCAA Tournament. The men are into the NCAA round for the ninth time, and for the second-straight season.
The GCSU Department of Athletics sponsors 10 NCAA Division II athletic programs over three seasons. As a Division II program, GCSU prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the Bobcats’ multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
