Crimson is Community
You are invited to participate in a Freshman Learning Community (FLC) during your first semester here and find out for yourself how important learning communities are at The University of Alabama. To experience UA, a rapidly growing major research university, as a small, close-knit group of students and faculty during your very first semester is a unique opportunity. FLCs offer this to you.
Freshman Learning Communities bring together a small group of students (our ideal size is 12-15) and one or two faculty members to explore a topic of interest to all of them. If you want to get to know other students who are interested in some of the same things you are, if you want to find friendly classmates with whom you can study for quizzes and exams, and if you are looking for a faculty member interested in your academic and personal development during the first semester, an FLC is for you. There is no down side to these supportive and exciting ways to shape your first semester at the Capstone.
Please contact Pam Derrick at pwderrick@as.ua.edu if you have any questions.
