Consortium Agreements

Home > Consortium Agreements

If a student is unable to complete his/her enrollment at the University of Connecticut, it may be necessary to take courses at another institution. In order for these classes to be taken into consideration when determining a student’s financial aid package, a consortium agreement must be in place between UConn and the other institution. The process for obtaining a consortium agreement is as follows:

Step 1
All financial aid recipients who plan to complete their enrollment at UConn by registering for additional courses at another institution, must be registered for the majority of credits at UConn. A consortium agreement will not be required for a student who is enrolled full-time at UConn. The course(s) taken at the other institution(s) must transfer back to UConn as a required course in the student’s program.
Step 2
The student must complete and submit a Consortium Agreement form prior to the start of the semester for which the consortium agreement is being requested.
Step 3
The Office of Student Financial Aid Services will notify the student in writing regarding the approval or denial of the request.
Consortium agreements are approved for compelling reasons only, not for a matter of convenience.
Step 4
If the request for a consortium agreement is approved, the actual consortium agreement will be sent to the other institution to be completed and returned.
Step 5
The completed consortium agreement must be received at the Office of Student Financial Aid Services on or before the tenth day of classes at UConn.
Step 6
Once the completed consortium agreement is returned, it will be reviewed, and the student’s financial aid will be revised to reflect the student’s enrollment at the other institution, in addition to the current UConn credits. Financial aid revisions based on the student’s total enrollment will not be evaluated until the completed consortium agreement is received and approved at the University of Connecticut.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to arrange payment for classes taken at the other institution(s), as well as any UConn charges expected to be covered by the revised financial aid.
  • If the request for a consortium agreement is denied, the student’s financial aid will be based on his/her enrollment as of the University’s fixed enrollment date (10th day of class).
