Nutri-Choice Program

Ferris State University Dining Services staff works hard to provide a wide variety of foods and services to meet each student's needs. Nutri-Choice is a program designed to meet the following goals:

  • Teach principles of developing healthy eating habits.

  • Assist customers in maintaining a healthy weight.

  • Encourage physical activity and limit alcohol consumption.

  • Encourage food and beverage choices that meet the recommendations of the American Heart Association and American Institute for Cancer Research. These include choosing an overall balanced diet from all major food groups, one that is rich in fruits, vegetables and grains. Also, select foods that are low in fat and salt, including fat-free and low-fat dairy products, legumes, poultry, lean meats, and at least two servings of fish per week.

Now and then, we need to take an honest look at our eating habits. Scientific research continually supports the fact that we can live better by exercising, maintaining a healthy weight, eating a variety of foods, and reducing our consumption of fried and fat foods, as well as salt. Take a look at our helpful pages to the right for more information.

To better meet the student's dietary needs they can contact the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist at (231) 591-3747 or BrendaWalton@ferris.edu to schedule an appointment.
