BIG RAPIDS – The Ferris Foundation Gifts and Grants Committee has been hard at work developing policies and procedures, and recommending additional resources for exceptional merit grants and Foundation for Excellence Scholarships.
The committee also monitors scholarship awards for compliance with donor specifications, recommends and monitors grant disbursement, and recommends student scholarship recipients for the Foundation Scholarship.
Serving as committee members are Chair David Drake, one-year member Paul Klatt, assistant professor Biology; newly-appointed members Denise Mitten, associate professor Recreation, Leisure Services and Wellness; Jeff Carney, professor Welding Engineering Technology; Greg Wellman, associate professor Pharmacy; Susan Wancour, assistant professor Dental Hygiene; Renee Mika, associate professor Optometry; Anita Fagerman, associate professor Management; Leah Monger, academic department head FLITE Systems and Operations; Linda Golden, manager of Financial Services; and Heather Youngs, coordinator of scholarship programs; Foundation board members Ken Bailey, Randy Phelps and David Sobota; and Associate Vice President for Advancement Carla Miller.
Currently, the committee is seeking to enhance the stewardship of existing endowments, create a meaningful opportunity for connecting donors with endowment beneficiaries on a consistent basis, and enhancing the resources available for exceptional merit grants and Foundation for Excellence Scholarships in cooperation with the Development Committee.
Committee members also reviewing Foundation for Excellence Scholarship candidates and exceptional merit grant proposals. The merit grant recipients are set to be announced the week of April 28.
