Beginning level courses were created for ESL students who have very little English skills. The primary goal of the beginning level is to prepare students for Level 1.
The beginning level is also designed to help students gain basic English, or survival, skills so that students can complete day to day tasks like going to the grocery store by themselves by the end of the course.
Some things that students will learn in the grammar class are the parts of speech, basic sentence rules, and modifiers. For reading, students will increase their vocabulary, learn about phonics rules and spelling, and much more. In the speaking and listening class, the students will practice pronunciation and speaking skills and learn about note-taking in class. And in the writing class, a few things that the students will learn about are the writing process, how to organize ideas, and the mechanics of writing.
