Daniel's primary field of study is agricultural conservation programs and the provision of ecosystem services, with a focus on the Conservation Reserve Program. His past portfolio includes work classifying and measuring the amenity and environmental value of these programs, and how these values may change as policy and economic factors vary. In recent years, he has engaged in experimental economics work focusing on program design, including work on the design of enrollment mechanisms. Current work continues this experimental aspect, but also includes investigation of the impacts of land use on pollinator health.
