ECE Professor Stephen Allen Boppart led a research team that developed an imaging device that can give a peek behind the eardrum. The device could usher in a new suite of non-invasive, 3-D diagnostic imaging tools for primary-care physicians.

Nathan Jack received the Outstanding Paper Award from the EOS/ESD Symposium held by the Electrostatic Discharge Association. His paper presented a new way to measure voltage in a chip when the chip is "zapped" by electrostatic discharge.

ECE Associate Professor Deming Chen recently received a gift from Intel to research methods for speeding up computing while maximizing power efficiency.

ECE Assistant Professor Rakesh Kumar has received the Army Research Office's (ARO) Young Investigator Award. He will develop algorithmic techniques to make applications robust to numerical errors.

The IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) has named ECE Assistant Professor Alejandro Dominguez-Garcia the 2012 IEEE PES Outstanding Young Engineer.

ECE Associate Professor Mark Allan Hasegawa-Johnson and ECE Assistant Professor Xiuling Li are both recipients of the 2012 Dean's Award for Excellence in Research.

ECE graduate student Pradeep Shenoy has an idea that could completely change how energy is converted from solar panels. He is avoiding energy conversion for the most part and maximizing energy production through a technique called differential power processing.

ECE Professor Stephen Allen Boppart has been awarded the Hans Sigrist Prize, an international prize presented annually to a distinguished scientist in a selected field.

ECE Professor and College of Engineering Dean Ilesanmi Adesida has been named vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost of the Urbana campus. He will assume his new role on August 16.

Several ECE faculty took their love of running and used it as a way to help support and to help spread the word of the ECE building campaign. They used their participation in the Illinois Marathon held in Champaign on April 28 as a way to involve students in the ECE building campaign.
