Ping Yang

Ping Yang

(MSEE 1978, PhD 1980)

After receiving his PhD in 1980, Ping Yang joined the technical staff in the VLSI Laboratory at Texas Instruments. There, he made significant contributions to the modeling of MOS semiconductors, saving the company millions of dollars in the design process. He soon became manager of his own R&D group, and in 1985 he was made a TI Fellow. His R&D group made significant contributions that ensured TI's leadership in the fabrication of integrated circuits. He left TI in 1997 to join Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, where he is now Vice President of Research and Development.

Yang is an IEEE Fellow and a member of Phi Kappa Phi. He has served as a special section editor for IEEE Circuits and Devices Magazine, a guest editor for special issues on microelectronics systems for IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, associate editor of IEEE Transactions on VLSI Systems, and area editor of ACM Design Automation of Electronic Systems. Yang is the author of 118 articles and co-author of two books. In addition, he holds eight patents.
