Professor Marjorie Welish Awarded Guggenheim Fellowship - Brooklyn College Madelon Leventhal Rand Distinguished Lecturer in Literature Marjorie Welish, "has won a 2014 Guggenheim Fellowship in the creative arts category...Welish credits her upbringing and specifically her father, a City College graduate and businessman who read poetry in his spare time, with sparking her literary interests...She has been teaching at Brooklyn College for three years and says she appreciates the opportunity to craft her courses in creative ways." http://www.brooklyn.cuny.edu/web/news/bcnews/bcnews_140430.php

Ta-Nehisi Coates Named Journalist-in-Residence for the Fall Semester - "Coates was awarded the National Magazine Award in 2013 for opinion writing and critique and was nominated the same year for a National Magazine Award in commentary.
