ASAP Outreach Recruitment Video

The 2010 BMCC ASAP Leadership Team collaborated with their campus media center to create an outreach and recruitment video, taking the lead on all aspects of pre and post production and working diligently to produce a high-quality video using  state-of-the-art software.  Click here to learn more

ASAP At BCC Goes Green

The 2010 BCC ASAP Leadership Team prepared a presentation for their peers on environmental issues in the Bronx and the important relationship between gardens and environmental health.  They worked closely with the school administration, grounds crew, and faculty to initiate, design, and build a garden, as well as start an ASAP Garden Club.  Click here to learn more

End of the Year Celebration and Food Drive

The 2010 Hostos ASAP Leadership Team worked together to plan an end of the year celebration for students to socialize and de-stress before finals.  In addition to coordinating the event logistics and fun activities for their peers, they set up a food drive and collected donations for the East Harlem Council for Human Services Senior Nutrition Program.  Click here to learn more

ASAP End of the Year Celebration and Talent Showcase

The 2010 KCC ASAP Leadership Team set out to plan an end-of-the-year celebration and talent showcase to honor ASAP graduates and continuing students, as well as highlight the diversity and talents of the students in the program.  They also worked with Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees to collaborate on a fundraiser for earthquake victims in Haiti.  ASAP students were asked to bring select items to donate in order to gain entry to the event.  Click here to learn more

ASAP Talent Show and Food Drive

The 2010 LGCC ASAP Leadership Team hosted a talent show to promote a sense of community, showcase the talented student body, and collect donations for a local food pantry. Singers, musicians, poets, and dancers performed to a packed crowd of students, ASAP staff, and supporters. Click here to learn more

Autism Speaks Toy Drive and Fundraiser

The 2010 QCC ASAP Leadership Team planned a week-long fundraiser for autism awareness that included a bake sale and toy drive. They collaborated with Autism Speaks, a national organization, to receive promotional materials about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society—and ultimately raised $1,700.  Click here to learn more

Leaving Your Legacy

The 2009 BMCC ASAP Leadership Team created a "BMCC ASAP Alumni" website.  Each student who created a profile on the site was entered into a drawing for an iPod Nano. The site promotes connection among ASAP students that will foster a network at particular senior colleges and that will help ASAP students maintain connection after leaving BMCC.  Click here to learn more

Fitting In and Surviving: Dealing with the Challenges of a Senior College

On Thursday, April 23, 2009 the 2009 Bronx Community College ASAP Leadership Team held a workshop to prepare ASAP students for the academic and social challenges of transferring to a CUNY senior college. Speakers included former Bronx Community College students who had transferred to a senior college, a current Baruch student, a transfer adviser from Lehman College, and a faculty member who teaches both at Bronx and Lehman Colleges.  Click here to learn more

Hear Our Stories

On Friday, April 3, 2009, the 2009 Hostos ASAP Leadership Team held a recruitment luncheon and college panel for prospective new students who were interested in joining ASAP in fall 2009. Student leaders shared information about ASAP benefits, requirements and resources, and testified to their own experiences in the program.  Click here to learn more

Finding Your Financial Compass

On Wednesday, May 27, 2009, the 2009 LaGuardia ASAP Leadership Team screened the independent film I.O.U.S.A: The Movie, which examines American debt culture and its long-term impact on American society. Drive-n-Movie

On Thursday, May 14, 2009, the 2009 Queensborough ASAP Leadership Team hosted an event to benefit homeless children by improving their summer camp experiences. The Drive-n-Movie collected donations of useful summer camp items--camping supplies, sports equipment, clothing, toiletries, bedding, kitchen goods, and much more--to benefit homeless children.  Each donation earned ASAP students and their guests admission to a film screening of The Pursuit of Happyness (2006) starring Will Smith.  Click here to learn more
