Today we are a combination system with a team of very dedicated career and volunteer personnel working side by side. Nearly one thousand men and women staff our four rescue squads and twelve fire companies.
That team of men and women serve a county of 500 square miles, with a population near 90,000, a major interstate highway system, growing industrial areas, a private college, and a popular theme park.
Our strength lies in the training and preparedness our emergency service team strives to provide. In the ten years between 1990 and 2000 our call volume grew by 36%. In 2001 we logged more than 16,000 calls along with managing eighty-six training classes benefiting over 1,000 emergency service members.
As part of our team you will experience:
Volunteering initiates the development of emergency service skills and education. Our team of twelve fire stations and four rescue squads is welcoming new members.
There are many ways to enjoy serving on our team. You may become a Emergency Medical Technician, a Paramedic, or a Firefighter. Don't let our name fool you - while we encourage "cross training" whenever possible, we still welcome volunteer members with specific interests in fire suppression or patient care. We also value help in office or record keeping tasks. Our auxiliary and support services personnel help with everything from data entry and information technology to hospitality and public relations.
