Institutional Biosafety Committee
Clemson University aims to provide a safe and healthful work environment for employees, students and visitors. It is the intent to minimize to the extent practicable all recognizable hazards and to comply with all federal and State laws and regulations. All principal investigators, whether Clemson employees engaged in research or non-Clemson employees working on Clemson property, are required to submit a research protocol if their work involves the use of hazardous materials. The IBC provides peer review of these protocols. This requirement was codified in the Clemson University Chemical Hygiene Plan, which was signed into effect by President Curris in March of 1997.
