V2.0: Web Redesign
Clemson University’s Web site received some well-deserved attention in 2007 with a redesign of www.clemson.edu. Because Web sites are always growing and evolving by nature, www.clemson.edu will always be evolving. By continually incorporating enhancements and improvements, we hope we can continue to provide a quality experience for all visitors to our site. Use this Web portal to guide you through our evolution.
Spring Break 2008 will see a new homepage. See a sneak peek....

Below, you can learn more about the WHY, the WHO and the WHEN of the project, as well as HOW TO GET INVOLVED.
Why
Why undertake this redesign project? A University’s Web site is like its electronic front door, and more than 24 million visitors come knocking on Clemson University’s front door each month. Because our site serves as the main source of information for our diverse group of audiences (everyone from alumni to internship employers to high school guidance counselors), we have to make sure that our one site can clearly address each and every audience.
This redesign is partly an assessment of how we portray the Clemson brand to our visitors. We, as part of the Clemson Community, know what it means to be “Clemson." Can visitors to www.clemson.edu get this message when sitting at their computers? Our hope is that yes, they will, through our redesigned Web site.
Clemson also realizes that the online world is changing, and we are committed to staying ahead of the trends. For example, Clemson receives 95 percent of its applications online, proving that students are using the Web more than ever to help them pick their paths of study. Our redesign will make sure future students have all the tools they need at their fingertips to learn about Clemson with www.clemson.edu.
Finally, we are using this redesign to address accessibility issues for all visitors, working to meet federally mandated Section 508 regulations. We take these regulations seriously and are committed to accommodating all our visitors.
Who
Who is leading the way on this project? The Clemson Web site has, since its creation, been a joint collaboration between Publications and Promotion and CCIT. Fueled by the need for a redesign, Publications and Promotion created the Office of Web Services (OWS) in late 2006 to focus its attention fully on making www.clemson.edu a functional marketing tool for the University providing useful information for all Clemson audiences.
OWS has pooled resources from across campus in preparation for this project, including on-campus computing experts, current Clemson webmasters, hundreds inthe Clemson Community and dozens of Clemson administrators.
When
When will this project take place? Officially, visitors to our Web site saw the new design implemented on our homepage and top-level pages on May 7, 2007.
From there, the redesign of the site continues to grow to other sectionsof the Web. OWS is working with partners all across campus to make this growth a success. You will see improvements over the next year or so to sites for colleges, institutes and special programs.
