Associate Provost for Student Performance and Engagement

Clemson University, a land-grant research university in upstate South Carolina, is recruiting candidates for the position of Associate Provost for Student Performance and Engagement. Reporting to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Provost will work with the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid and Registrar to assist with development of strategies for marketing, recruiting and managing enrollment of undergraduate and graduate students with the intent of increasing quality, diversity and performance. The Associate Provost also will work with the Vice President for Student Affairs and collegiate deans to increase undergraduate and graduate student engagement through undergraduate research, Creative Inquiry, service learning, internships, immersion activities and other special programs that fulfill general education competency requirements.

The successful candidate will demonstrate

  • academic experience at the level of department chair or director;
  • ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines;
  • demonstrated leadership and planning abilities;
  • outstanding oral and written communication skills;
  • effective personnel management skills;
  • analytical and decision-making expertise;
  • high energy level and drive to get things done.

Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree, ability to qualify for tenure within an academic unit of the University and considerable academic experience at the level of unit director/program coordinator or the equivalent. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
