For the eighth year in a row since the beginning of the SIOR/CCIM/Greater Greenville Association of Realtors Annual Market Forecast, Dr. Terry Farris moderated the October 6, 2011 forecast session including presenting Upstate Market Trends and introducing Mr. Ted Abernathy, Executive Director of the Southern Growth Policies Board.  This annual luncheon in Greenville attracts around 250 key executives from the real estate industry.

Dr. Farris presented two papers about the implications of urban renewal history on strategies for redeveloping shrinking cities at two primarily faculty oriented national conferences:  the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning on October 15th in Salt Lake City and the Society for American City and Regional Planning History on November 19th in Baltimore. pdf

The papers are an outgrowth of Dr. Farris’s spring 2011 sabbatical and continuing research into urban renewal history nationally and in the City of St. Louis.
