Notice of Emergency Notification System Test

The safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors is a top priority at CCSU. To help protect our community, we have established an Emergency Notification System which will allow us to provide information critical to campus safety. A key part of our efforts is an outdoor loudspeaker broadcasting system which will send out alerts that can be heard across the campus.

During actual operations, the broadcast announcements will be used only to provide information about potential emergency or hazardous situations, including significantly threatening weather.

I want to assure you that we will conduct only enough test alerts to confirm that the system is operating reliably and appropriately. Indeed, most testing is done using tones that are outside the hearing range of humans.  However, any audible testing will be conducted during periods that we hope will minimize their capacity to startle or annoy our neighbors.

In addition to you, our neighbors, we will also notify the emergency service providers in both New Britain and Newington of this test.

If you have concerns, please feel free to contact the CCSU Police Department at 832-2375.
