CCSU Natural Helpers support student wellness, helping fellow students meet their personal and academic potential, with particular emphais on physical, emotional, spritutal, intellectual, and social wellbeing.
Natural Helpers are CCSU students who work out of the Office of Alcohol and Drug Education, part of Student Wellness Services. They volunteer their time to be a peer resource to students. Natural Helpers are nominated by their peers, staff and faculty. They are nominated because they have good listening skills, are leaders, and have a genuine concern for others. Natural Helpers receive training on wellness promotion, including preventing substance abuse.
Natural Helpers are dedicated to provide peer support to fellow students. They collaborate with other campus and community organizations to provide wellness support through education, with particular emphasis on physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and social wellbeing.
Natural Helpers attend one all-day training during the Fall semester. At this training they learn about important Wellness and prevention topics, many of which they will use on campus. During the academic year, they receive additional training and prepare for programs. Natural Helpers' hold weekly meetings to plan programming.
