Aerial Activities on University Premises on the Urbana-Champaign Campus
Aerial activity is defined as the use of fixed wing aircraft, helicopters, hot air balloons, hang gliders, parachutes, unmanned equipment, and other special air borne equipment on University premises.
Policy
For reasons of public safety, aerial activities are not usually permitted on University premises. There are no areas on University property that are normally safe for accommodating take off or landing operations except at Willard Airport.
Exception to this policy must be approved in advance by the Executive Director of the Division of Public Safety or his/her designee.
In order to avoid public concern and to assure coordination, flyovers of the University of Illinois for other than normal transportation purposes should be coordinated in advance with the Executive Director of the Division of Public Safety or his/her designee.
Aerial activities over the University of Illinois must be in compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Administration regulations.
