Young Global Citizen Programme

Vietnamese young people can change the world!

“ I think it is a good chance that I never thought that I (a student from Mekong Delta area) could have. I’m lucky to have a wonderful camp with talented friends. I hope that I can share what I’ve learnted with others”

“ I was the luckiest man. The camp was wonderful and it was the cradle for creativity, exploring your inside potential. After joining this camp I look forward to joining the changing world. I highly appreciate this initiative from the British Council and what I want to be is to work and live as a global citizen”

Diem and Thinh, Regional Young Global Citizen Camp January 2006

Inspirational words from two out of the ten Vietnamese winners of a national writing competition to attend the Young Leaders camp. They experienced the diversity of cultures and developed up mutual understanding among participants from the United Kingdom and the region through various social and learning activities.

Participants discussed issues like culture, identity, prejudices, common stereotypes, local and global issues affecting youth. They were then encouraged to develop their leadership skills through practising project management, public speaking, creative thinking and facilitation skills.
