Exploring the possibilities

We are a cultural organisation aiming to demonstrate the quality and level of expertise of the UK in the arts. We focuss on contemporary, creative and innovative arts and aim to make a positive contribution to the rapidly developing arts scene in Vietnam. as well as promote the creativity and innovation of the UK today. However it is through our focus on partnerships and collaboration that we also hope to nurture lasting, mutually beneficial relationships between our two countries.

THEATRE AND DANCE

From the Cando Co to TogetherHigher troupe, from Matilda Leyser to 'Life Point’ physical theatre, see how the British Council helps promote the contemporary dance and theatre of Vietnam.

DESIGN

The British Council promotes British design and contributes to the design industry of Vietnam through a range of activities and events - including graphic exhibitions, training workshops, fashion shows and conferences.

MUSIC

From classical concerts to contemporary electronic music, we organise a wide range of musical events in collaboration with Vietnamese partner to showcase the best of British music to Vietnam.

FILM

The British Council helps promote British films by organising UK film week, taking part in different film festivals in Vietnam. We also support Vietnamese film training centres by providing tutors for film making training courses.  

VISUAL ARTS

As well as introducing examples of the UK contemporary visual arts, we have been engaging with a number of Vietnamese young visual artists from different fields to support to them in developing their individuality and creativity

LITERATURE

British literature is widely read in Vietnam, both in translation and in the original English. The British Council is planning to organise seminars, talks by British and Vietnamese writers on UK contemporary literature.

ARTS FOR DEVELOPMENT

The British Council has been working since 2001 in the field of Arts & Culture for Development. We connect artists and development practitioners in Vietnam, support development projects using arts to raise awareness of and promote specific social and development issues.

British Council Arts Fund

The British Council in Vietnam is pleased to announce the 2011 British Council Arts Fund.The BCAF aims to support Vietnamese artists and Vietnamese arts organisations in Vietnam. It also aims to enhance collaborative practice between artists and arts organisations in Vietnam and the United Kingdom and promote understanding of our two cultures among the wider public.
