Learn English

If you want to improve your general or your professional English, you can do it on the LearnEnglish website, the British Council's website for learners of English.

LearnEnglish includes interactive features such as user comments, discussion forums, content rating and polls, as well as media-rich materials including podcasts, flash games and videos.

The site features video and audio materials, business and work materials, a grammar section, and games and cartoons.

Premier Skills

If you’re a football fan or you’re learning English, the Premier Skills website offers you the chance to:

  • Watch videos and read articles about your favorite players and clubs
  • Learn football vocabulary while you have fun
  • Play interactive games
  • Practice your English
  • Enter our competitions

LearnEnglish Kids

is the British Council’s website for children who are learning English as a foreign language.

They can have fun with games, songs, stories and lots of activities – and learn English too. The activities on the site are designed for learners to do at home, on their own, with friends or with their parents.

LearnEnglish Kids is also for teachers and parents

The site can help teachers of young learners as a lot of the activities can be used very effectively in the classroom. There will also be a support section for parents looking to help their children’s learning of the English language outside of the classroom.

TeachingEnglish

TeachingEnglish: Your Global Home brings together everything busy teachers need for the classroom and the staffroom. It is divided into five sections:

TRY: Access lesson plans, quizzes, ideas for activities and other materials for use in class.

THINK: Explore articles by teachers and renowned specialists on teaching methodology, ideas and tips, an ELT glossary and much more.

TRAIN: Learn about free training resources for teachers and trainers, or find out more about the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) awarded by the University of Cambridge and offered in a number of countries, including Poland.

TRANSFORM: Find help and advice for educators on professional development, including books for download and access to UK research on ELT.

TALK: Keep personal blogs, join discussion forums, answer polls and form groups.
