UK Artists and Art Organizations

Connect to the US Market

We’ve developed a set of resources to give UK artists and UK-based arts organizations greater insight into the complex US arts market. While by no means comprehensive, the information here is a starting point for further research.

Cultural policy and funding in the US in general is regionally and locally driven. While there are some federal funding programs through the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities, much of the government funding dedicated to the arts in the US is streamed directly to the states. For this reason, private, independent foundations and non-profit service organizations play a significant role in shaping regional, state, and national arts policy. With 50 states and other territories, the arts landscape in the US is widely varied.  Considering this dense and complex market, it’s easy to see why creating and sustaining long-term relationships with US partners is key to the success and impact of your work.
