Jung Chang's bestselling memoir Wild Swans comes to the stage for the first time through a trans-Atlantic partnership with London's the Young Vic, the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Actors Touring Company.

Wild Swans follows one family through three generations -- from the early days of Communism through the chaos of the Cultural Revolution to the birth of a superpower -- in a gripping tale of struggle and transformation in 20th-century China. Published in 1991, Wild Swans has sold more than 13 million copies in 36 languages.

The first-ever staged production brings together a joint US/UK artistic team that includes author Jung Chang with playwright Alexandra Wood, director Sacha Wares, designer Miriam Buether and Beijing video artist Wang GongXin.

Wild Swans premiered at Cambridge's A.R.T. before moving to the Young Vic in London in April 2012 for World Stages London, a new international theater festival supported by the British Council's London 2012 program.
