As The Black Atlantic Project wound its way back and forth across the ocean, UK and US musicians involved with the project documented their lives and work.

In addition to mailing their re-mixed music to the next person in the chain, each artist added to a "cultural capsule" traveling with the package:

  • A personal 'voice' letter: Thoughts about the project, the track, their life as an artist
  • Disposable camera photos of their homes, studios, cities and culture
Here are a few photos to give you a window into the lives of these unique musicians.
