Skills for Employability is a British Council programme that addresses the demand for skills in a global economy so that national educational and training systems are better able to respond to labour market demands and learner needs.
In Ukraine the project aims to support the development of a new national qualifications system which would meet the demands for personal and professional development in the swiftly changing world of work.
Skills for Employability focuses on building strong relationships with industry and employers, governments and training providers, using the UK’s expertise on standards, innovation and creativity in the field of skills training where the UK is a market leader.
The project has set up a platform for UK–Ukraine policy dialogue on national qualifications frameworks (NQF), their purpose, benefits and challenges.
In September 2010 Skills for Employability Ukraine brought a senior delegation to the UK to learn about approaches to Qualification Frameworks and establish links with leading UK experts. As a result, a national debate has been launched in Ukraine on core principles of qualifications reform, with reference to good practice in the UK.
