'Football Unites' campaign

1–10 October 2009
In the run-up to the Ukraine vs England World Cup Qualifier in Dnipropetrovsk 10 October 2009, the British Council and the British Embassy in Ukraine, with support of the Football Federation of Ukraine and British International School, launched the campaign 'Football Unites', aimed at cultivating contacts between football fans, intercultural dialogue, and friendly links between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

International Networking Event

Stephen Byers MP launched 2010 John Smith Fellowship Programme in Ukraine

The John Smith Memorial Trust invited applications to participate in the John Smith Fellowship Programme 2010. The Fellowships aim to strengthen and deepen awareness of good governance through a five-week programme in the UK and placements that show the workings of organisations within a long established democracy.

Peacekeeping English Project handed over to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence

On 25 June 2009 we handed over the Peacekeeping English Project (PEP) to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence. The project has been funded by the UK Government and implemented in Ukraine for over ten years.

Future City Game generated ideas for Intercultural Park in Melitopol

25 project participants after two days of team work came up with five creative ideas about revitalisation of the Central city park of Melitopol and transforming it into a unique intercultural park.

British Council cooperation with Podil District Administration in the sphere of education

British Council and Podil District Administration signed an agreement on 11 June 2009 on cooperation in the sphere of education. British Council provides free English lessons to students of Podil schools, deputies of Podil District Council and economically disadvantaged residents.

New student immigration system
