In line with the overall purpose of the British Council, we, as the Society team in Turkey, work towards establishing long-term cultural relations between people in the UK and in Turkey.

More specifically, our work in the area of Society has the following objectives:

• Supporting the strengthening of understanding and building of trust between people in the UK and Turkey, and contributing to positive social change
• Creating oppurtunities for open and informed debate about Turkey's EU accession process
• Supporting Turkey's alignment with EU norms through capacity building projects
• Supporting the process of enabling young people to contribute to positive social change in Turkey
