Global School Partnerships aims to motivate young people's commitment to a fairer, more sustainable world.
The programme partnerships that promote global education through the curriculum. Support and guidance is provided to teachers and grants are awarded to schools to make the most of a school partnership as a learning tool. Funding is available for visits between partner schools to enable them to develop curriculum projects together based on global themes.
In Sri Lanka we promote learning, equity based and sustainable partnerships among Sri Lankan and UK schools through mutually beneficial curriculum based projects related to Global Education.
More than 2,500 partnerships have been established (June 2011) since the programme started in 2003 between schools in the UK and schools in 57 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
The programme is funded by UKaid from the Department for International Development and managed by a consortium of the British Council, Cambridge Education Foundation, UK One World Linking Association, and VSO.
