What is Teacher’s International Professional Development (TIPD)?
TIPD: provides for UK teachers to experience good educational practice in different countries of the world. The programme creates networks of school teachers and local authorities (Zonal or Provincial Education Office equivalent) in England, who work in partnership to examine models of good practice.
They engage and share in professional dialogue with colleagues across the world and discover that what happens in their classroom can be influenced by positive examples from overseas.
First TIPD visit in Sri Lanka: theme 'Citizenship'
Ten primary schools (age group 5 -11years) from the Cambridgeshire region visited Sri Lanka from 22 – 30 July with an aim of sharing good practice of the teaching of Citizenship in schools. Mainly to study the extent to which – and how – the school ensures that the pupils:

On the first day they were given a briefing on the School Education System in Sri Lanka by Director of Primary Education Mrs. Asoka Pandithasekara ,Ministry of Education Sri Lanka.

Tweleve secondary and primary schools form Sourthern UK Devon visited following selected schools in the southern belt of Sri Lanka
