3 easy steps to register for the test

step 1 Prepare the application
Get & complete the IELTS application form by, along with guidance on completing the form:

Call our customer services number and we will send you
the application form

Download or
Collect the form from our offices

Please supply your email address on the application form – this way we can send you the confirmation and your exam timetable quickly and efficiently

step 2

Pay the fee of Rs. 17,200 in any one of the following ways

** Please note that the IELTS exam registration fee for exams held on Saturday 4 August and onwards will be Rs. 17,900.

Post bank draft or cheque direct to British Council
Pay by either cash, cheque or credit card at the British
Council

Make a bank transfer from the bank of your choice
Go to HSBC and pay direct into the British Council account
for free – locate your nearest branch through
http://www.hsbc.lk
For latter two options, note these details:
Bank name: HSBC
Account name: British Council Sri Lanka
Account number: 001-002377-002
Message: IELTS, Candidate’s full name
(e.g., IELTS, Prabhath Jayasuriya)


step 3 Submit the application


Send the application form, 2 recent passport-sized photographs (please note that candidates must not wear glasses in the photographs), passport copy and bank deposit slip or cheque (if applicable) through the post to the British Council offices.

Alternatively, you can submit the application in person at our offices. For applicants from outside of Sri Lanka, a scanned completed application form can be sent by e-mail initially, but the original application form and additional documents must be sent by post as well to confirm registration.

step 4 Register online
Please note: you cannot make payments via the online registration system. Please make your payment using any of the methods stated in 'step 2' above.

For all sessions there is a limited number of places available, so enrolments will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Places will be assigned according to the date of receipt of your application.

Please Note: You must also bring your valid and original passport on the day of the test. We do not accept National Identity Cards. Certified copies of passport will not be accepted.
