The European Film Festival 2011 is jointly organised by the European Union Delegation, British Council, Goethe Institut, Alliance Francaise de Kotte, the French, Dutch, Swiss, Italian and Norwegian embassies and Polish and Belgian Consulates in Sri Lanka, along with the National Film Corporation.
This is the fourth consecutive year that this festival is taking place in Sri Lanka and this year the organising committee is chaired by the Goethe Institut.
The film festival will extend beyond Colombo, to Kandy, Jaffna and Galle, providing the great opportunity for movie lovers all over Sri Lanka to enjoy a collection of various, contemporary and classic European films. This festival is a shared international cultural experience that aims to promote a friendly relationship and to increase the mutual understanding between European Nations and Sri Lanka.
The European Film Festival 2011 is currently the biggest European film event in Sri Lanka, providing audiences with the opportunity of viewing high quality, modern European cinema at no cost. Initiated in 2008 with the objective of promoting cross cultural dialogue through the medium of film, the festival promotes mutual understanding between European countries and Sri Lanka.
The festival in Colombo will be held from 1 to 10 October 2011 at two venues: the National Film Corporation Cinema Colombo 7 and Goethe Institut.

THE ILLUSIONIST (DVD)
Synopsis
The Illusionist is one of a dying breed of music hall entertainers. Whilst performing in a village pub off the west coast of Scotland, his path is crossed by Alice, a naive young girl, who will change his life forever.
