Young Creative Fashion Entrepreneur Award 2012

Are you a young and creative fashion entrepreneur from Slovenia? And you would like to present your work in an iternational market? If yes, then take part at our International Young Creative Fashion Entrepreneur Award 2012, which recognises the centrality of creative entrepreneurs to the development of a sustainable and competitive creative economy.

What is Young Creative Fashion Entrepreneur Award programme?
The Young Creative Fashion Entrepreneur Award finds the brightest stars in the world of international fashion, recognising the importance of entrepreneurs in driving forward the fashion industries, developing their independent sector and representing the best of what’s going on in their local scene. Since 2005, 80 young fashion entrepreneurs from more than 40 countries have taken part in the programme, building an active alumni network in the process, seeing the creation of new collaborations and business, co-designed lines/collections, increased profiles and participation at international fashion weeks in Brazil, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Sri Lanka, and more.

All national winners will be selected in countries around the world who will participate in a shared programme in the UK with valuable networking and idea exchange with their international and UK peers in the fashion sectors. The UK tour will run alongside London Fashion Week industry events in September 2012.

To participate, you have to work in one of the following sectors:

Fashion, textile, accessories or perfume design and production
Fashion promotion: shows, exhibitions, festivals, events
Fashion retail: buying, merchandising
Fashion product research, sourcing, supply chain management
Fashion marketing, PR, branding, communications, journalism, publishing

You have to:

be a young professional aged between 21 and 40
alrealy work in the fashion sector (as above) with at least three years experience
be entrepreneurial and have shown your ability in the promotion and development of the fashion sector in your country, in either a commercial context, public context, or both
through your character, drive and abilities, demonstrate your potential as a future leader of the sector and a partner for the UK
have a very good command of spoken and written English
have a keen interest in the UK and its fashion sector

What makes a good candidate?
The candidates should possess the following qualities:

Entrepreneurial ability: risk taking, passion, corporate skills
Innovation/development of new business models: leadership, ability to make a difference
Market awareness and understanding

How to apply?

Download the application form.
Return the completed application form to the British Council by 25 May 2012. Deadline extended to 10 June 2012.
Make sure you enclose the following with your application form:
a passport size photograph,
portfolio of your successfully realised projects,
any other relevant documents or information.

What happens next?

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview. Interviews are expected to take place in June 2012.
In September 2012 the finalists from 19 participating countries will participate in a visit in the UK, where they will take part in valuable networking both with key UK fashion sector partners and amongst their peers. The tour will comprise visits, meetings, seminars and events. It will also include a masterclass with an internationally renowned UK fashion sector entrepreneur.
