Who we are

The British Council is the UK’s leading international organisation for educational and cultural relations.

We work with our partners, both in Serbia and in the UK, to showcase British excellence, innovation and creativity. We work for the benefit of the individual and for the mutual benefit of the UK and Serbia.

In the UK the British Council is registered as a charity (not-for-profit-organisation) and operates independently from the UK government, from which we receive a grant-in-aid.

The British Council has 7,900 staff in offices, teaching centres, libraries and information and resource centres in 110 countries and territories worldwide.

Our patron is Her Majesty The Queen and our Vice-Patron is His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales.
