EUNIC

Partnership of 21 EU national institutions for culture

EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) is a partnership of national institutions for culture, engaged beyond their national borders and operating with a degree of autonomy from their governments. In a step forward for European cooperation, 21 EU national institutes for culture from 19 countries have decided to work for the first time, 50 years after the Signing of the Rome Treaties, in a strategic and operational partnership to promote European culture.

The purpose of EUNIC is to create effective partnerships and networks between the participating organisations, to improve and promote cultural diversity and understanding between European societies, and to strengthen international dialogue and co-operation with countries outside Europe. The EUNIC membership is intended to grow in time to include national institutes for culture from all the member states.

EUNIC comes together at two levels:

a partnership at a top level between the heads or Directors General of the institutions
partnerships being formed in capitals across Europe

The Belgrade Cluster consists of the following cultural institutes (institutions) of EU Member States represented in Belgrade:

The Austrian Cultural Forum - 'Öesterreichisches Kulturforum'
The British Council
The French Cultural Centre - 'Centre Culturel Francais'
The German Cultural Centre – 'Goethe Institut'
The Italian Cultural Centre – 'Istituto Italiano di Cultura'
The Spanish Cultural Centre 'Istituto Cervantes'

This network is open to other cultural institutes (institutions) of EU Member States which might be established in Belgrade in the future. Also observers (at present Greece and Poland) are welcome. Other EU Member States represented in Belgrade are also welcome to join EUNIC activities on a project basis.

For further information, please visit EUNIC or EUNIC Belgrade website.
