respecting diversity

We launched the “Respecting Diversity” guide, a useful toolkit for all those who were working in the field of intercultural dialogue, with the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance and Integration on Monday, 15 November 2010.
The guide is also available in Romanian
here.

See how we celebrated the International Day for Tolerance and Integration.

The aim of the Respecting Diversity project was to improve the awareness and quality of diversity work among Romanian youth:

by building the competence and capacity of non governmental organisations, working with young people, who were active in the area of diversity;
and by increasing the know-how of these organisations in accessing European funds, principally Youth in Action programme funds, in order to develop international and domestic youth projects and initiatives.

As part of this project we organised training courses and debates on what diversity means, how diversity issues can be managed, what a youth organisation can do to promote intercultural understanding, the European policies on diversity, how to access Youth in Action funds.

The general outcome of the project was to increase the ability of individuals and organisations to contribute to the intercultural understanding and the strengthening of civil society of Romania.
Civil society representatives, media professionals and educators who were part in this project were able to engage and promote the benefits of diversity and equal opportunities to wider communities.

A new training course was organised in Bucharest between 26 - 28 October 2009.
