Road to IELTS

A free 30-hour IELTS online course for all candidates who registered.

After registration you will be sent access codes to the materials. You will be able to access the materials as many times as you wish until 1 week after the date of your written exam.

Preparation classes

The British Council offers courses for people interested to sit for the IELTS test.

• a 36-hour course (a term) - develops overall ability in English and guides you through examination techniques.
• IELTS techniques training (2 days) to help you achieve your best possible score.

Preparation materials

We can help you prepare for the exam with "Official IELTS Practice Materials Vol. 1" (CD included), “Official IELTS Practice Materials Vol. 2” (DVD included) and with “Top Tips for IELTS” (revision guides for IELTS Academic and General Training, CD included) which are available for sale at the British Council Bucharest, Cluj and Iasi.

"Official IELTS Practice Materials Vol.1" (CD included) and "Official IELTS Practice Materials Vol. 2" (DVD included) are preparation materials approved by the British Council, Cambridge ESOL and IELTS Australia and include:

• Practice tests for Listening, Speaking, Academic Reading and Writing, General Training Reading and Writing
• Listening, Reading and Writing answer sheets
• Listening and Reading practice test answer keys and Listening tapescripts
• Sample candidate Writing responses and examiners' comments/ sample candidate Speaking tests and examiners' comments

The CD / DVD include preparing tests for the Listening paper and 3 examples of candidates taking the Speaking paper.

"Top Tips for IELTS" (CD included) is available for both Academic and General Training modules. Written by IELTS examiners with many years’ experience, these candidate revision guides are recommended as part of your revision for the IELTS test. They provide candidates with essential advice ('tips') for each part of the test and include:

• Clear examples and explanations
• General tips for each component to help you with revision
• Sections on how to revise, and what to do on the day of the test.

On the CD-ROM there is a full IELTS practice test; sample answers for the Writing paper, and a video of a Speaking test.

The price for the “Official IELTS Practice Materials Vol. 1” and for the "“Official IELTS Practice Materials Vol. 2”"is 80 lei each and for “Top Tips for IELTS” is 70 lei.

NEW! We offer a 10% discount to IELTS exam candidates when purchasing "Official IELTS Practice Materials Vol.1" and / or "Official IELTS Practice Materials Vol.2" and / or "Top Tips for IELTS."

Just for IELTS exam candidates, the prices for these exam preparation materials are:

• 72 lei for Official IELTS Practice Materials Vol.1 (CD included)
• 72 lei for Official IELTS Practice Materials Vol.2 (DVD included)
• 63 lei for Top Tips for IELTS (CD included)

The 10% discount applies to IELTS exam candidates registering for an exam from 11 April 2012.

You can purchase these materials at the British Council centres or you can order them by e-mail and we will send the materials by courier.

Here is what you need to do if you want to receive these materials by courier:

STEP 1
Transfer the fee, depending on the materials you would like to order from the bank where you have an account into the British Council account with the following details:

Please write your name on the ordin de plata field and IELTS Material in the reprezentand field.

STEP 2
Send the proof of payment by e-mail at contact@britishcouncil.ro along with the address where you can be found Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 17.00, your mobile number and your name. Please let us know which of these materials are you interested in and if you are interested in the “Top Tips for IELTS” material, please also specify  which exam module are you preparing for (Academic or General Training).

The books are sent by courier within two working days and you will pay the delivery fee upon arrival.

Please note that for each payment we will issue invoices only on request, within 30 days from the date of payment.

New! IELTS Word Power App for Android smartphones

The IELTS Word Power App for Android smartphones is a free voabulary practice app for IELTS test takers produced by the British Council. With over 100 questions to test word power, this app helps to build vocabulary in preparation for the IELTS test.

To access the app you need to have an Android mobile device (REQUIRES ANDROID 1.5 and later).

• Tap the “Market” icon on your android mobile or tablet
• Search for “IELTS Word Power”
• Tap “Install”

Android users can also access IELTS Word Power app Using Google Play.
