MEET THE POLISH FINALIST OF THE IYVAE’2008 AWARD Orange lozenge left

Paulina Wrocławska – the winner of the Polish stage of the International Young Visual Arts Entrepreneur (IYVAE) competition

Paulina Wrocławska, the manager of the Raster Gallery, has won the Polish stage of the International Young Visual Arts Entrepreneur award. The competition jury awarded her the prize for promoting Polish young contemporary art through initiatives organised at the Raster Gallery. Paulina’s work is an embodiment of the idea of connecting local, international, commercial and non-commercial initiatives, all of them aimed at the popularisation of art among a wide public.

As the finalist of the Polish stage of the competition, Paulina represented Poland at the international finals in London in October 2008. She competed for the title of the best visual arts entrepreneur with representatives of countries such as: Saudi Arabia, India, the Lebanon, Columbia, Russia, Syria, Tanzania, Venezuela and the United Arab Emirates.

For Paulina, participation in the international workshops in London was an opportunity to exchange experiences, learn about new ideas and views, and get to know the other finalists.

Paulina Wrocławska studied Cultural Studies and History of Art at Warsaw University. During the last years of her studies, she started working as a co-ordinator of an international project developed by the Warsaw Raster Gallery – Willa Warszawa (Villa Warsaw). Since September 2006, she has been working in the Raster gallery as the manager and projects co-ordinator. The number of staff at the gallery is small, and Paulina is responsible for a wide range of tasks: PR and promotion, the co-ordination and organisation of events, contacts with customers and artists, finding sponsors.

The International Young Visual Arts Entrepreneur Award was the fifth of seven International Young Creative Entrepreneur (IYCE) awards organised this year to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the British Council in Poland.
