CONNECTING CLASSROOMS

What is Connecting Classrooms Europe?

It is a new project which builds lasting partnerships between schools in the UK and in 20 countries in Europe. Through these partnerships, the programme develops understanding and trust between young people in different societies, creating a safer and more connected world for the future.

The aim of the programme is to achieve culturally inclusive schools and has been designed in consultation with education bodies, practitioners and policy makers around the world.

What are the benefits?

Young people learn collaboratively with peers from other cultures and communities. The focus of inclusion helps develop the cultural understanding and skills they need to live and work as global citizens.

Teachers and school leaders are supported to develop international school partnerships and integrate them into school curricula and broader strategic plans. In this way, they enrich young people’s education, enhance their own professional development and contribute to the achievement of the whole school objectives.

What does the programme offer?

  • Support to schools and education authorities to establish international partnerships
  • Professional development for teachers and school leaders
  • Training in leadership skills and cultural awareness for young people
  • E-Twinning online platform to help develop and sustain partnerships.

School Partnership Poland – Scotland – Spain – Bosnia&Hercegovina

Schools from 20 European countries have been divided into partnership clusters.  Poland will cooperate with Scotland, Spain and Bosnia&Hercegovina.  A Partnership Plan created by four countries defines the aims and objectives of this cooperation.

Aims

  • Through inclusion, enhance and establish student voice and embed leadership qualities across all of our partner schools
  • Use international education as a medium to enrich the curricular experience of students and the professional development of teachers

Objectives

  • Build team within school for international project work
  • Raise awareness amongst whole school communities on priority areas of inclusion: ethnicity, faith, poverty, disability, minorities
  • Create, deliver and evaluate a successful international project that addresses the priority inclusion issues

There is current strong interest within the cluster to strengthen and develop volunteering initiatives within the schools and strengthening the outreach schools have within local communities.
