Semi-Permanent is New Zealand's largest design festival - and the only event of its kind in Australasia. It takes place again on May 18-19 2012.

Semi Permanent is back in Auckland for 2012. This year we are proud to be supporting UK design stallwart Swifty to the event.

Semi-Permanent speaks directly to the individual. It is a forum that welcomes all people with a mind open to creative ideas and the wide world of design. Attendees include Creative Directors Design Directors, designers, artists, photographers, digital creative's company leaders, agency personnel, product and fashion designers and pretty much any one who operates as a creative.

British Council has in past years brought over UK guests MadeThought, Seadesign, & United Visual Artists to take part, and In 2009, a strong contingent of UK designers including Studio AKA, Kate Moross,   Pentagram & All Of Us.

In 2010 we supported a strong contingent of UK guests including The Light Surgeons, Adrian Shaughnessy, Nicolas Roope from Poke London and Duncan Speakman . We could also hardly contain our excitement at the visit of record cover design guru Storm Thorgerson as well, (think Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin album covers!).

In 2009 the British Council also supported the UK designers who were present, with a special SP event in Wellington at the New Dowse for the Capital's design community.
Presenting were Sanky from All Of Us, Philip Hunt from Studio AKA and Harry Pearse from Pentagram. You can view the thought-provoking and visually-engaging presentations here.

On Friday 20 August 2010 at 7pm, Semi-Permanent attempted to set the world record for the largest ever subtlemob.

Audiences were invited to download an MP3 file onto their own device (e.g. Mp3 player, ipod, mobile phone) and turn up at a secret location in central Auckland, not far from The Aotea Centre, to listen to the especially composed sound track.

As If It Were the Last Time, a subtlemob by Duncan Speakman was brought to you by British Council New Zealand.

Semi-Permanent is a celebration of all things design - graphics, fashion, animation, illustration, motion graphics, typography, sound design, live audio-visual art, interactive and experiential marketing, fine art, music, product design and more.

Semi-Permanent is the only event of its type in Australasia. With sister events held in Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne, New Zealand organisers The Church describe it as “a global gathering of pure talent, new ideas, conversation and visual splendour”.
